The work that keeps a site working

A website is not furniture. Dependencies age, certificates expire, plugins develop vulnerabilities, and forms stop delivering without announcing it. Maintenance is the difference between noticing that yourself and hearing it from a customer who could not reach you.

What is covered

  • platform, plugin and dependency updates
  • security monitoring and vulnerability patching
  • backups, with restores actually tested
  • uptime and form-delivery monitoring
  • performance checks and Core Web Vitals
  • small content and layout changes
  • a named channel for issues

Updates, done carefully

Applying every update immediately is how sites break. Ignoring them is how sites get compromised. We stage significant updates, check the pages most likely to be affected, and keep a path back if something regresses.

Backups that have been restored

An untested backup is a hope, not a plan. Restores get exercised so we know the process works and how long it takes, before it matters.

Monitoring the things that fail quietly

Uptime checks catch the obvious. The failures that cost real money are quieter: a contact form that stopped delivering, an expired API credential, a payment provider silently rejecting a card type. We monitor the paths that generate revenue, not just whether the home page returns 200.

That is not theoretical. This site's own contact form once returned success while sending nothing, because a hidden anti-spam field was being autofilled by browsers. Nobody would have noticed from uptime monitoring.

Reporting

You get a plain summary of what was updated, what was found and what we recommend. Not a tool export with no interpretation.

Plans

Maintenance is arranged as an ongoing agreement sized to the site. Larger development work is quoted separately rather than absorbed silently into a retainer, so you can see what you are paying for.

FAQ

Do you maintain sites you did not build?

Yes, after a review. Some sites need remediation first, and we will tell you before starting rather than inheriting a problem quietly.

What happens if the site goes down?

We are notified by monitoring and start work through the agreed channel. Response expectations are set in the agreement rather than implied.

Can we cancel?

Yes. Your code, content and accounts are yours; there is nothing to hold hostage.
